(Still on my quest for a upgrade machine ...)

Has anyone tested the Janome 1600P (straigth stitch semi-industrial) with heavy topstitching thread or upholstery thread ?
How does it look like ?

Thanks !

It looks fine with the proper needle!

You mean a topstitching needle, or a needle made for the fabric (leather, denim, microtex ...) ?

I have! Just make sure you have the same thread in the bobbin otherwise you won't like the results.

Thank you ! So you put topstitching thread both in the needle AND in the bobbin ?
Wow, my machine barely tolerates sligthly heavy thread on one of them :)

If you do use the heavy thread, it helps to get an extra bobbin case (if your dealer charges a lot for them, they aren't expensive from a sewing supply place online ). That way you can adjust the tension settings on the case for heavy thread, and you will have a very nice stitch. Your other case can be for regular sewing thread.
