2 members like this. Date: 1/30/13 9:09 AM I serged off a generous dart in a knit sleeveless shell but had not seen this done in rtw. My vest which I purchased I noticed the teeny dart and was curious. About 1 and 1/2 from dart point the serging began and the dart's finished width from there to the wide point was no more than 3/8 inch. I also noticed that the front facings of the vest were interfaced and the zipper area also had an additional inch of interfacing fused. The vest was made of made of all polyester fabric which I had not noticed as its surface looked like a poly cotton blend. I think the extra interfacing in the zipper area and probably the collar as well gave it a lot better hand. I thought I would share what I found inside the vest. |

Date: 2/1/13 7:58 PM I did this last year on a knit tank but made the huge ugly dart normal sized. This teeny dart was really quite neat and not noticeable and was on a woven. I think they may have backed off the bust point a little more than too so it wasn't like aiming at a bull's eye. Seeing this nice looking teeny serged dart used in rtw has convinced me if I can't rotate one someplace else that thing is getting serged away. I've worn this vest half a dozen times and just now noticed the teeny dart. I need to go back to inspecting rtw for clever techniques. Glad you found it as helpful as I did. |
