Threadelights Thread Anyone use it?

This site is connected to Radiant threads who use to or maybe still does sell thread on ebay. It's cheap thread made in China. You want either RA, Maderia, Metro (which is very inexpensive but people love it). For embroidery you don't want cheapie thread it will break, shred etc. I brought some varigated thread from above it was ok for dec stitching but couldn't take the heat and wasn't strong enough for high speed embroidery use. Remember we had the discussion in quilting about the RA thread same thread. Sulky thread is also good and can stock up on that at Joanns and I believe they are having a 50% sale this weekend. Threadart thread is cheap and it's ok. I brought a set cos of the price. It's also made in China but was a lot better then the Radiant threads. ------ quiltingwolf.blogspot.com

I have a lot of Metro, and it worked great for me, sometimes I needed to slow the speed down a bit, but Metro also sells the Sigma thread now and I have NO trouble with higher speeds with it at all. I was so impressed I purchased the entire mimi king set, 99 spools for approx $60. THEN when I got it, I compared the spools to my Poly X40, hum....same in every way, just different colored spool, THEN I compared the color thread that I had from Poly X40 to Sigma....same color and same numbers! So it would seem the Sigma from Metro is in fact Poly X40 which is also good, just cheaper in Sigma. I run this at 1000 spm and no problems. Loving it! I know many prefer rayon for it's supposedly better sheen, but the poly withstands washing and even bleach, and is good for clothing, towels and linens. They have the best price of anyone I can find. It is poly but it sews nice and you have to go slower. Here's a thread chart that what threads your embroidery machine tell you but you can convert to the thread you use thread chart. Date: 1/31/13 11:21 AM No matter what brand of thread you use order a couple of spools first to test. Even the same brand model number of machine that some else has and their's loves brand x, your machine could hate. The cheap threads break and shread while embroidering. A thread that shreads will leave little pieces in the top tension area of your machine. A broken thread on an embroidery machine (especially when you're not looking/standing near machine) can wrap inside machine around take up lever. When I tried out threads I embroidered lace designs, if it can do that it can sew anything. I have a couple spools of cheap thread given to me that break no matter what the machine is stitching. If the thread shrinks after garment is washed it will ruin all the hard work. Sulky, RA are nice thread. For less expensive threads look up Marathon threads, they work well with new Pfaff's, Brother and Janome. ------ Janome10001, Babylock ESG3, Brother ULT 2001, White 634D serger, Pfaff 1472, Singer featherweight, Singer 14T957Dc, Bernina FunLock 009DCC coverlock, Brother PQ1500S, Janome CP900.

Date: 1/31/13 12:04 PM Buy quality poly (Madeira or Robinson-Anton) as the colors are needed. You may even find a small set with colors that can be substituted for what is recommended for the design. This will save you money when compared to a 100 spool set that has colors you may never use. In a pinch, JoAnn has thread on sale at 50% off from time to time, but unless they have changed brands they sell Sulky, Gutermann and Coats & Clark....all rayon. I know! I know! You have no idea the restraint it took for me to not just impulsively order a 100 spool set of thread! I was looking at the gorgeous Kreations design I wanted to embroider and it has close to 30 colors in it! I started looking at individual spools, then my brain started protesting and I thought it would be SO MUCH EASIER to just buy a set and have it already! The ONLY thing that stopped me was the nagging worry that I would be stuck with a HEFTY purchase and a LOT of thread if it didn't work in my machine. It wasn't easy though to walk away! ------ Cathryn
