It broke thread every few stitches, broke at least 2 needles a project...
It was taking me double the time it takes to do one design.
I did everything... Adjust tention, changed needle, cleaned inside...but it was still the same so I just assumed it was the thread.
I just kinda got used to it, but consequently didn't really feel like embroidering after awhile.
Then yesterday, I felt like pulling it out the closet and started up again...
Same story. After few stitches it broke the needle.
I was running out of needles, so I decided to use my denim needles... Size 16.
To my surprise, without any expectation, it fixed the problem!!!
No thread breaking, no needle breaking... It went with no problem and finshed in time it should take.
I was using twill, but didn't think it was heavy enough to use the denim needle.
I guess with a stabilizer it made it thick enough that normal size needles couldn't handle it. (I was using size 12-14)
So if you ever have a problem with your EM... It might be worth a shot to change your needle size!
I'm getting back to embroidery!

Date: 2/3/13 10:01 AM A tech once had me switch to a Janome Blue Tipped Needle, explaining that the larger eye helped thread move more freely during embroidery. I was astounded at the difference that one tweak made in my projects! ------ Indecision may or may not be my problem. -Jimmy Buffet

There is also a chart with suggested needle types/sizes in regard to the project fabric. |

Date: 2/9/13 1:46 PM So funny you should mention that. I was making some guitar straps the other day and having a heck of a time sewing a buttonhole through 2 layers of vinyl. Trying this, and that...finally the coffee kicks in, and I put a leather needle in the machine. I had to laugh at myself...what was I thinking? |
