I have a stack of vintage patterns that have been given to me.... I do not sew vintage. Is there a place to list these patterns for sale? I want to avoid ebay if possible!

Thanks- Linda

You can list them in the classified section.

She can only list on our PR classifieds if she is a paying member.. if not.. she could try her local Craiglist.. or perhaps put up notices on any bullentin boards of her local fabric shops..

Good point. Does PR still run a trial 30 day FOPR membership? She could try that if they have it. But watch out... that's what pulled me into a FOPR membership! I love my daily digest.

All good suggestions, but you also might try offering them to one of the big vintage pattern sales websites in a bulk batch?

I have a question regarding vintage patterns and rather than making a new thread I will ask it here.

There is an offer in my local Craigslist selling a bunch -30 odd judging from the pictures- of vintage patterns for $50. These range various items for women's, men's and children patterns from 50's to 70's. I have been interested in getting my hands on some vintage patterns for some time but the prices are sometimes steep. This looks like a good deal since chances are I will find a few in my size range and I could find what to do with the rest.

Those of you with experience, I'd like to know what you think and what other questions should I ask aside from trying to negotiate the price (seller said price not negotiable btw).

I would take a look at them. Most of the vintage pattern I see on ebay/etsy go for $5-6. See if you see at least 10 you would use to get your $50 worth. JMHO. I have been finding vintage pattens at local thrift shop for $.50-$2.00. They are not in my size, but they are also very basic-designer pattern would be worth more.

I think only worth something to you, if in a style you love and size that fits you and just patterns that you are actually going to get sewn up into clothes someday. Or at least a good possiblity of it. Unless you just want them to look at. So maybe see how many of them out of the bunch of them, are going to be that way for just you at all. Then divide the $50 by that #, and that is a more true value to you on it then. Just since that would be cost of each pattern used for you.

I think the only question to ask is maybe did they actually open all of them and count and check if all the pieces were really there or not? That might be kind of handy to know or not, normally maybe someone would not ask that, or expect to be asked that at all about some old patterns, but if they are charging a whole $50 for them, then maybe that is instead a pretty valid question.
