I love this Lanvin dress:

The bodice is very unique. It almost looks like princess seams but then it doesn't. There seems to be a 90 degree angle at the armhole where the side front pieces meet the center front of the bodice. I am thinking a true princess seam would not work because the matching of the stripes would not work well due to the curve. Has anyone seen a pattern with a bodice like this one? I have seen some close, but none exact. I am wondering if I could achieve a similar look using M6278 ViewB If anyone has a better suggestion I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You could try Burda 7051, view D as a starting point for the shoulder/armscye detail.

Thank you so much. How did I miss that since I follow her blog? I guess you just have to be really careful with the stripe matching on those seams. I noticed she made her fabric but I think I am going to try and find some first.

The Burda with the cute back (7232) has a front like that.

It's an effing train wreck. I tried every bra I own, and the outside top of the cups poked out. I had to redraft it.

Kristine's dress doesn't have quite the sharp distinctions of the linear bodice and curvy skirt, which are the elements that struck me immediately.

More pics of Lanvin's creation are at

Thank you so much. I did not even think about looking at Birds. That bodice is perfect. I will definitely muslin it to check out the bra issue.

McCall's 5313

The skirt's different, of course.

Yes, I was thinking I might have to morph a straighter skirt onto it. Thanks.
