Evil chiffon monster and french seams

I can't find it now, so it's probably over a year old. I'm making a silk chiffon collar for a dress. It cut out ok, only a few weird jaggedy bits that I was able to trim off ... any wonderful tips for sewing it? Layer it with tissue? Starch it? IIRC, the prior recommendation was to dip it in gelatin? How you do then get the gelatin (or the starch) out again? (It's silk, and white chiffon on a plum colored dress, so it won't wash.) I will be doing french seams. Anything special I need to know for french seams on a curvy collar? (I will certainly practice on a scrap before sewing.)

If not, have you tried the search function, located at the top of the column at the left of the screen? Use it in the Message Board search function. Search messages, not titles. Do not fill in a poster's name. Leave it at the default setting to search all forums. Date: 2/7/13 4:53 AM One things that comes to mind about french seams on a chiffon collar is the following method. Unfortunately I can't remember who posted it, but it sounds ingenious. Serge the seam, wrong sides together. Then turn inside out and stitch as closely to the serged seam as possible. Turn again and press. This should work well with curved seams and the seam allowance should look very neat even with the sheer fabric. I have not tried it myself though.
