I am starting to get interested in making a pretty bra/panty set with pretty lace. I have never sewn lingerie before. Is there an online source that sells a "kit" for a beginner to lingerie sewing that would have most everything I need?

Bra Maker's Supply, elingeria, and fabric depot all sell kits. I've just finished using a basic Bra Maker's bra supply kit--not fancy just functional, but they do have nicer sets. My recommendation is to get a large range of underwires if you aren't 100% sure of your size.

Merckwaerdigh also sells kits. Her's are my favorites from what I've seen--but she's located in the Netherlands.

There's a place in Alabama called Logan's Kits that specializes in lingerie fabrics/finding. It's run by a retired couple and it's mail order, buy they take customers by appt.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

The Etsy shop Hooks & Wires sells a variety of custom dyed color kits at a reasonable price. I find them especially nice when you're just beginning to learn and test your pattern. Wires are even included in the kit.

Bumping this thread to see if people have more info. I need one piece body shaper/bra combos for my gowns and have been customizing different ones I buy at discount places. Starting to think it would be easier to start from scratch.

Elingeria is now out of business.

I love dealing with Merckwaerdigh - she always ships stuff out quickly and is very responsive to emails. She also has a store on ebay that has a bunch of stuff not available in her Etsy store. The initial descriptions are in Dutch but once you click on an item the English description is a few paragraphs down.
