Date: 2/7/13 3:40 PM I've been searching for patterns but am not having much luck with the Big 4 finding things that my daughter will like.
She will not (and we won't let her...) wear bikinis. Tankinis are an option though but she prefers one piece suits.
She's 5'7" and about 115 lbs. She has VERY long torso and legs so fitting her in swimwear has always been an issue.
I'm looking for something youthful but not a bikini if anyone has suggestions.

3 members like this. Date: 2/7/13 4:02 PM I would suggest checking
Jalie
Or Kwik Sew
I haven't had much luck with the Big 4 either. Kwik sew has been known for their good instructions, including how to lengthen, and Jalie has more contemporary styles.
Good luck |

Oops, edited because I saw you addressed tankinis in your original post. I'd recommend checking out ebay for suitable (ha!) swimwear. It seems that in the past, there was more offered in one pieces. -- Edited on 2/7/13 7:24 PM -- |

Date: 2/7/13 10:32 PM She's super modest. Lol. I showed her the Jalie and she blanched! Lol. She wants the surf style with top and board shorts apparently!
Maybe a tankini with boy shirts will fit the bill?? ------ Nakisha - A new sewist with a passion! :)

1 member likes this. Date: 2/8/13 4:35 PM Ok, for modest or boyshort style two pieces: Kwik sew has one with boyshorts KS3239
Or, here's another - tankini style KS2868
This Jalie has a skirted bottom Jalie 3023
I have also used McCalls 8813 , which has not only a boyshort, but also a decent halter top
or you might try McCall's 3566
Both of these last two are out of print, but you can find them on ebay.
Also out of print, but available on ebay sometimes are Ks2600 or Ks2689
I also suspect Jalie 2563 could be used as a swim top, and the shorts/pants could be modified into boyshorts
Another out of print one if you can find it is Jalie 2446
My favorite out of print tank with modest legs is Stretch and sew 1306
or Jalie 971
These last two might be difficult to find, but well worth it.
Good luck! |
