Date: 2/9/13 2:29 AM My 24 X 6 1/2 inch ruler has developed clouds of fog inside the acrylic about half way down the length. My other rulers are OK. Has anyone experienced this also? I have had the ruler for about 5 years. |

Date: 2/9/13 6:46 AM I think it's related to the aging of the acrylic/plastic.
I'll check with the resident polymer scientist when he wakes.
EDIT:Checked with Resident Polymer Scientist. He states that acrylics tend to fog and discolor with age and exposure to excessive heat or light. "Did it accidentally get ironed or too close to a hot bulb?"
Same as our white or cream plastic body sewing machines " yellow" over time. -- Edited on 2/9/13 10:31 AM -- ------ Brother Innovis NX650Q; Brother Nouvelle 1500; Brother CS6000i; Brother 1034D |

How useful to have a resident Polymer Scientist!
I think it has been left too close to a window. Hot Aussie summer sun sometimes is excess 40 deg C.
I have resolved to treat rulers with more respect and recently pushased a storage rack which I've also just reviewed for PR.

Studying to be a polymer science researcher. Maybe he'll come up with better quilting tool materials?
