"Fogging" of yellow quilting ruler What causes this?

My other rulers are OK. Has anyone experienced this also? I have had the ruler for about 5 years.

I'll check with the resident polymer scientist when he wakes. EDIT:Checked with Resident Polymer Scientist. He states that acrylics tend to fog and discolor with age and exposure to excessive heat or light. "Did it accidentally get ironed or too close to a hot bulb?" I think it has been left too close to a window. Hot Aussie summer sun sometimes is excess 40 deg C. I have resolved to treat rulers with more respect and recently pushased a storage rack which I've also just reviewed for PR.
