Date: 2/9/13 11:47 PM I just bought some beautiful liberty lawn cotton. I'd like to make a blouse. I'm 39 if that matters. But please show me some of your favorite patterns that really work well with this lovely fabric! ------ Ruth Ann |

Date: 2/10/13 8:26 AM It's hard to get used to wovens and the "binding" effect after knits, but I'm wanting to try the new lawns and onion skins too--Fabric.com just yielded some new ones.
I have S2255 to try, may alter to a soft curved neckline for coolness, without the collar. These cap sleeves are doubled, maybe could be a single thickness. -- Edited on 2/11/13 8:30 AM -- |

2 members like this. Date: 2/10/13 9:12 AM I just made a wearable muslin of the Alma blouse:
Sewaholic alma
It's really lovely, feminine without being too young (I'm 38), and sewed up easy. Tasia designs for a slim pear shape figure, and I'm a true hourglass, but I size up if between sizes and do a fake FBA (reduce seam allowance below armpit) on all sewaholic woven patterns, and it fits me perfectly. I will be using my liberty lawn next time around...

If you have enough, I think you should consider a standard button up the front, collared blouse. Make it just slightly bigger, than fitted. You can wear this in the winter under a sweater, or over a T or camisole, or just as a blouse with jeans or a nice pair of slacks. My friend has a nice high end designer liberty print blouse, and she wears it all the time, with skirts, jeans, slacks, etc. Dressed up and down. |

Date: 2/10/13 10:39 AM A button down blouse would be pretty. Didn't JCrew have a liberty blouse for $$$$. Or you could try the Scout pattern (I can't recall who makes it), or the Collette sencha would be pretty. |

I would even suggest a camp shirt style with collar and stand, pockets and flaps, the works.------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com

Date: 2/10/13 1:45 PM I have a nice piece and I just downloaded this pattern from the burda site.
I'm 42 and I think that there are quite a few prints that work for those of us who aren't children. Which print did you get? -- Edited on 2/10/13 1:46 PM -- ------ http://beccabeckstuff.blogspot.com/

Date: 2/10/13 6:13 PM I bought the Phoebe print in red/blue off of etsy. I bought all she had left because I loved it, it is only 50", which will obviously limit what I choose for a pattern. here is a pic of Phoebe ------ Ruth Ann |

Date: 2/10/13 7:15 PM How about the Colette Violet pattern? I used it for a Liberty print and was happy with it. For what it's worth, I made the collar smaller, very easy to do, and shortened the sleeves considerably. |
