Surprise Twins Born at Home.

She and her husband decided together to have midwives and home birth. I was apprehensive of this but everything turned out wonderful.DD didn't want to know the sex and would only consent to ultrasound if medically necessary. The boys hearts beat together so they thought one baby. They weighed 5lbs12oz and 6lbs 14oz and are doing very well. She's breastfeeding and has plenty of milk. I've been busy and lucky to live in same town about 5 blocks from her home. The midwife delivering didn't know there were twins if she did my DD would have had to go to the hospital. This is the 1st time she delivered twins. She's been a midwife for over 30 years. She's had some women go to the hospital where she then becomes a labor coach. My DD's labor was 3hr50min for 1 part and 1hr15 min for the push. This was her 1st pregnancy. I had asked a friend who was a hospitable delivery nurse for 45 years and she reassured me that midwives are well trained and obligated to take to hospital if any kind of problem.

Twins can make for a very complicated pregnancy and delivery, and I'm thrilled that everything turned out so well. My daughter is also expecting twins around Labor Day, but she's known since she was about 3 1/2 weeks pregnant. Hopefully a happy outcome like yours! ------ Singer 66-16. What a wonderful surprise for everyone. I always thought twins would be wonderful, you get two kids and only have to wait once for them. It all seems to have gone perfectly, and how lucky for Mommy that her mommy is around the corner. Truly a blessed event! ------ Barb
