I am working on this girls' dress in cotton organdy for a First Communion and I would appreciate any thoughts on working with organdy.

The dress will be lined in cotton lawn and I plan to underline the bodice as well. I have tried a tiny baby hem on the tulip sleeves, which I think looks pretty nice, but I'm happy to hear other ideas.

Also, how would I finish a collar made from such sheer fabric? Every seam allowance and stitch is highly visible. I may skip the collar altogether for this reason, but I would like to know if it can be done.

Tips on working with organdy in general would be appreciated too! It's a lovely, but unique fabric.

Bump.

Delighted to see the pattern you selected for this project.

Looks beautiful. I have marked the thread for my own use.
THanks
