I usually don't have an issue in this area. But alas, I am there. I received a gift card to Joann for my birthday. I walked through and found the new High Hamptons collection. Namely, the kelly green basketweave cotton. It's super light and would be a perfect skirt. I think. Here's where I run in to trouble. Obviously it needs to be lined. I was thinking of using the Hollyburn pattern from Sewaholic. When checking the back of the pattern it states "Not recommended for plaids, stripes or one-way designs." Which has me double checking using said fabric for this skirt. Help please! Thanks!

I think it will look fine. It's only because the pattern won't meet up at the side seams 1:1, but seriously, nobody notices that kind of thing.

Cute skirt! Patterns without a bias cut (like this skirt) will often say not for stripes and plaids because they are hard to match up. I think this will be very cute. I would probably line in it a lightweight cotton.

At first glance the basketweave pattern doesn't really stand out but when I looked at it again it sort of does.
With that being said what I would suggest is to take the fabric in the store and purposely offset the pattern and stand away from it and see how it looks. Then use your own judgement. It may not be as obvious in real life.
