Today my daughter and I went microwave shopping at our local Sears... While i was making my purchase, she found a Singer Superb display model marked down to 149.99.... The salesman said it was a closeout and came with a full warrantly .... I was kind of leery about purchasing a machine off the floor without testing it, but, he offered another 20 percent off....

We snatched it up... It works perfectly and my daughter is off to Joann's to buy material....

Did I take a risk or did we get a deal? Should I take it to the local repair shop to check it out....

Those seem to have a pretty good reputation and for that amount of money sounds like it was a good deal. Congratulations!

If I read that right, you got 20% off of $150.00 so you paid $120.00 for a Singer Superb? However, whether you paid $120.00 or $150.00 You got a SUPER FANTASTIC DEAL!!! When that machine first came out regular price was $650.00 but on sale was $500.00. Later the regular price went down to $399.00 but always went on sale for $299.00. I've never ever seen it sell for less than that anywhere. I know because I've searched for the best deal as I bought several!

I own and LOVE the Superb and wrote a review of it here

Please take the time to read it for a couple pointers especially that the bobbin thread has to lay across the bobbin. My review has links in it to see photos.

After I bought a Superb and loved it someone else wanted one so I bought it for her but then she couldn't pay for it. So I donated the extra one (it's in my review) Well, wouldn't you know that my two DIL's showed interest in sewing so I ended up buying each of them a Superb. Then my SIL wanted to get back into sewing so I bought one for my brother (he paid me) for him to give to her for Christmas. I think that shows you how much I like this machine. I had a sewing school one day to get them all started in learning how wonderful all the features are and how easy it is to use this machine.

If your daughter wants extra presser feet I've boughten many of the Distinctive Presser Feet from Amazon They work perfectly fine and are much less costly than Singer brand feet.

The clip on the side of my Superb that I showed in my review to hold the foot controller plug so it wouldn't fall on the floor if I want to unplug it in order to use the start/stop button broke since I wrote that review. So instead of the clip I just stuck on a piece of sticky back velcro to the machine and folded another piece around the cord close to the end where it plugs into the machine. Keeping the plug attached to the machine with the velcro keeps it from falling on the floor whenever I unplug it.

Anyway, you did get a great deal!! I hope your daughter gets many years of enjoyment out of it like I already have. Had I saw that deal I would've snapped it up just to have 'in case.'

Thank you Lord for my Mother who taught me the joy of sewing, for my Father who encouraged my sewing, for the talent You gave me to sew, and for all the special people in my life to sew for.
