Hi, I'm going to make the Pamelas Patterns "Un-Mentionables" the view with the more basic panty and not the stretch lace one.

Does anyone have a favourite fabric and/or place to buy panty fabric it online? I intend to use the Fold over elastic on whatever fabric I end up buying.

thanks
Sue

I prefer lighter weight cotton/lycra 4-way (2-way seems to crawl down on me). I've had some luck hitting the clearance rack at Target--found xxl ladies tops in the perfect fabric, and was able to get 2-1/2 pairs out of each top. I've not found a good fabric source to order from, just keep my eyes open when I travel/fabric shop.

Good luck!

I like a cotton stretch fabric and I have found some at my local JoAnn's - in a dizzying varied of prints and I pair them with an equally crazy color combination of fold over elastic, too.

Yes I know what you mean about the 4 way stretch it's much better.

I made DH some lovely undies a few years ago and used 4 way stretch. The problem was I couldn't get fine enough lycra and he didn't like the feel of them, said they were too thick. I don't want to make the same mistake again.

I have enquired with www.tissu.co.uk as they seem to have a lot of lycras. Hopefully they get back to me with a suggestion and have the fabric in stock.

I think she suggests poly Lycra fabric such as skating or sportswear is made some. Just got home from Joann's where I had a remnant in my cart but I decided to pass. I bought a stretchy piece of lace yesterday from a local job lot type of fabric store and will try that first. Fabrics are difficult to find in a non-scratchy not too see through lace. I'm guessing mine is poly, and I'm planning to make that same pattern.

I'm hoping the center seam will be not be uncomfortable.

I think the T-shirt idea is a good one. I've been browsing for a favored fabric for a while and haven't found any in the stores, so the T-shirt idea sounds good to me.

I use a 4-way stretch cotton or rayon lycra. Fabric Depot Co has lighter weight cotton/lycra jersey in a bunch of different colors and has swatch sets available.

I just noticed on the Pamela's Patterns website she too recommends Fabric Depot Co.

T-shirts. Why? Because they are fun (with their logos and sayings) and everyone has a bunch of them from different places. Great "green" thing.

Sometimes when I want to be creative, I'll make a seam about halfway from my thigh to my tummy and insert lace--about 3" wide. That "gussies up" the panties.

On a slightly different tangent....does anyone use the FOE on panties? If so how have you found it to put on?

I have ordered 5/8" (16mm) elastic and am about to order a folder for my Babylock Coverstitch machine.

Love to hear what experiences others have had and the preferred method of applying it.
