Hi, I'm in the "gathering information" stage of exploring whether I should purchase an embroidery only machine. I have a Babylock Ellisimo and really don't enjoy stopping sewing to set up to embroidery on the same machine. Would appreciate any thoughts, experiences or reference sites anyone has. Thank you. I would be doing this for myself and hopefully would do a certain amount of business so I could make this a tax deduction too. Thank you.

I think it would depend on how much you want to spend. Are you talking about that huge BL embroidery machine! What a dream!

Or something more modest? What hoop size? If you go want above 5x7 they get pricier.

I had an entry level Janome 350E and gave it to my daughter after getting my Ellisimo. ElliMo makes the entire process painless and foolproof. I was babysitting and always tweaking the other with mixed results.

Would it work to keep yours set up to embroider and get a second machine to sew?

The Bernette Embroidery 340 Deco is an embroidery only machine by Bernina. I don't know anything about it though.

I have way too many yards to count, and I will never use them up, but I will die trying!

I am a proponent of stand alone embroidery machines. However since you already have a great embroidery machine why don't you buy a good sewing machine, keep the Ellisimo for embroidery and then you have a back up sewing machine in the Ellisimo if ever needed.

Exactly.

I have the original BL Ellegante and only sew with it occasionally. I have an Elna Pro Quilters Choice (purchased before the BL) and use it for garment sewing as well as piecing and quilting.

Before the BL, I had the little Brother PE150.

If I had to purchase another sewing machine, I would look at the BL or Brother brands.

The 340 Deco is almost identical to the Janome 350E, just a few little changes.
