Date: 2/13/13 0:31 AM Is it usual for independant dealers to drum up business on Kijiji? I'm thinking of either buying a machine from this guy (if the right one comes up) or having him service something I buy. Are his prices reasonable, considering the guarantee? And how do you find out if an independant dealer does a good repair job? I figure, with a free estimate, it can't hurt to try.
I have to admit I'm puzzled as to why he doesn't list model numbers in his ads--can anybody ID the Janome? |

Date: 2/13/13 0:41 AM This is most likely a guy who has a shop and sells his trade-ins this way. Or he could be retired and picks up machines to resell. He does some pretty-fancy write-ups on the sell factor. If you look closely at the lighting on that machine, it has yellowed as can be seen on the side where a sticker used to be. Not sure if that would bother you. |

Date: 2/13/13 1:01 AM If he has a shop, it's a home-based shop, unless he's listed his home postal code; I know the neighborhood and there's no shops there.
Not sure if a yellowed paint job would bother me; I'm also debating picking up an Elna Supermatic with chipped paint and a rusty case... don't care too much how it looks as long as it sews nicely. |
