Zippers Shortening

For metal zippers, there is a set of tools that will do the job, one for taking off the teeth and one for applying the stops, as well as spare parts available. For nylon zippers made with coils, you can just cut them off and stitch across the zipper to make the stop. I don't know if the nylon or plastic zippers with teeth have a set of tools different from the metal ones. HTH Is that what you needed? ------ Fictionfan
Pamela R   Expert/Couture ON CANADA Member since 6/22/07 Posts: 236	Login to reply to this post In reply to Fictionfan << Like this post Date: 2/15/13 9:52 AM I use side cutters for removing plastic teeth and then sew a piece of fabric over the end where the stop would go, and for metal, remove the stop, then use plyers to pull off the number of teeth that you want then put the stop back onbut remember to put the zipper pull on first if you had it off. The nylon zippers , just cut, then fabric sewn over the coil end, I sometimes pull up and cut some of the coil as it can creap out and scratch. If you ar working with separating zippers, never try to shorten from the bottom!!! good luck Pam
