Date: 2/16/13 9:59 AM Where can I get t shirts for toddlers? JoAnn's start at age 6. I need size 2 and 5. I saw some Fruit of the Loom t shirts but don't know if they are only for boys or can they be for girls as well? They were in the boys section. Are they intended to be used as PJ's? I want a good price because it will take some practice to embroider on them.
I saw some on eBay but then there is the cost of postage. Most of the t shirts I find in the stores have designs on them. Any advice would be great. Thanks! |

Date: 2/16/13 10:12 AM Practice on thrift store ones first, buy a large men's size for lots of fabric.
If you have a Hobby Lobby, use their 40% off coupons (Sunday paper or online) for nice heavyweight ones for $2+. I have used them for appliques and to add bottom ruffles for girl's skirts. Plain craft store T's are designed for emb. and painting. Generally girls' have lower/softer necklines, but that's not important for little kids.
WM sometimes has plain Hanes or Faded Glory brands. |

My local thrift shop has fill a bag for $5.00. I stock up on high quality knits and cut them down for t shirts for my grandkids.(and myself sometimes) If you have a husband use his old shirts to practice! ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 2/17/13 10:29 AM Two online sources (though as you say, cost of shipping):
jiffy shirts
Dharma
Dharma has mostly white shirts. I've used Jiffy Shirts to get quantities of shirts for kids' costumes, so usually go over the "free shipping" total; but even below that shipping is only 5.95. They're a huge operation and really do ship out immediately. ------ Jeanne

Date: 2/17/13 7:39 PM Look for "rabbit skins" shirts on Amazon. They generally run pretty cheap and are reasonably good quality. You do have to pay shipping, though, if you don't have Prime. |
