Date: 5/18/05 12:13 PM I am looking for a gaucho pants pattern. I think this is what they are called. I want a capri length pattern. I teach at high school and they are very popular right now. They are usually made out of knit. They are very full - and almost look like a skirt when on. They are darted in the waist to reduce bulk - at least the pair I inspected closely.
I would LOVE to make these for my daughter. She wants to wear skirts - BUT also wants to play on the monkey bars . . . :)
She is five, but I could scale down an adult pattern if I found one. I really don't want cullotes - they are not 'full' enough.
Any suggestions>

Subject: Looking for a Date: 5/18/05 12:34 PM Have you tried find a rtw gaucho pant that you could copy? I see many of them online. I haven't seen any patterns for that type of skirt/pant. It almost seems as though you could take a full skirt pattern that you like and make pants out of that. Sorry I couldn't do any better for you.
Oh my gosh - I take that back. I just found the perfect website for you. I figured out that this type of skirt was used in the old west. Try this website.
Scroll down for split skirt pattern.
You also might do a search on "riding skirts" and Victorian clothes.
Hope this helps. -- Edited on 5/18/05 1:40 PM -- ------ What is Maxine saying??

Subject: Looking for a Date: 5/18/05 12:48 PM There is a pattern from parkbenchpatterns.com but I do not know if that is the model you are looking for.
Another way is adapting a skirt pattern with the help of this drawing ------ http://thesewingdivas.wordpress.com/ |

Subject: Looking for a Date: 5/18/05 4:38 PM These are my latest obsession. I have been trying to come up with a pattern of my own to copy them. I'm thinking of making KS 3156 with wider legs and cropping them. My other option was taking Simplicity 4672 and modifying it into pants, but I'm a bit unsure of how to do that. Sorry I'm not much halp, but I've been trying to figure out this one for the past two weeks myself. I love these pants! |

Subject: Looking for a Date: 5/18/05 4:47 PM I know - they are so cute! I want a pair for myself and my daughter - but I have never drafted a pattern or turned a skirt into pants . . . . maybe some enterprising person will come up with one. Or maybe I will have to learn something new ------ Joan |

Subject: Looking for a jacket pattern reviewed on this site Date: 5/18/05 7:43 PM Hi Everyone-
I recently read a pattern review on this site for a fitted jacket which had a two piece partial lining in back which criss- crossed over the shoulders. Unfortunately I neglected to mark down the pattern make and number and haven't been able to locate the review again. If anyone has this information, please email me.
Thanks much.

Subject: Looking for a Date: 5/19/05 2:14 AM Sue = this sound like Simplicity 4698 - it is the best pattern selection in the latest Threads and they note the unusual crossed lining. There are several reviews on here for this one |
