We all know their patterns from Vogue but found out on a fashion blog that they have a low-cost (as compared to their initial collection) available at Nordstrom and Piperlime.com, among other venues.

From the Viva Cuba line:

Not making me scream, as a friend would say, but it seems they were on the verge of bankruptcy. Hope this move saves them (and their pattern line!)

I just can't get excited by any label named after a major blood vessel. It's not a particularly sexy or inspiring name for their company and it doesn't make me think of great looking clothing. Maybe if they changed to something less...anatomical, bloody, internal?...the styles would have more appeal. Most designers have/use names that evoke exciting and appealing images of their designs. Vena cava makes me think of the vascular system and how I should get back to the gym.

Indeed, I tend to look at their designs and label them "Inferior Vena Cava" or "Superior Vena Cava" depending on if I like them or not. Vena Cava sounds like a vampiric drag queen name.

Agreed. But even though I cringe at the name Vena Cava, another clothing company, a high end company with $1,500 leather jackets and $350 jeans, has a name that's even worse --Acne.

I missed that one.
Lucky did a better job coming up with a name for their jeans company.
