Tuxedo Shirt

They were 100% cotton and they seem to have shrunk and wrinkled awfully. I neither chose them, washed them or dried them. I gave my opinions and my price max, both which were ignored. LOL ANYWAY, I think a broadcloth shirt would be better and plan to make one. Any thoughts? I think such fabric is going to be difficult to find that will be good enough for a shirt. I was surprised they were 100% cotton as men generally buy shirts by collar size and sleeve length, shrinking just messes that up. -- Edited on 2/18/13 0:27 AM --

I made my DH's for ballroom of wicking poly knit with a piqué front. He gave the sewing machine I purchased for him to his niece. I cannot seem to find good fabric online. Thought the Vogue pattern I owned had a shirt in it, but it is just a tux. Maybe I'm looking the wrong places. Isn't the pique' rather warm? Don't look forward to the tucks, but illl-fitting clothing drives me crazy. -- Edited on 2/18/13 9:11 AM --

The jacket and faux waistcoat cover the rest. And the jacket has a padded back to make it look smooth, so the poor guys get ridiculously hot. We ladies are luckier since we get open backs etc that help us keep cool in spite of our 5 - 10 lbs. of dress, makeup and jewelry. I know there are threads here about finding good quality shirting. For sure, you want it to not wrinkle, especially if you are doing the pin tucked front. That would be a pressing nightmare! Here is a photo of the shirt and here it is with the jacket on. From a really quick search, I couldn't find a tuxedo shirt pattern. You may have to frankenpattern it. I would be tempted to cut a normal shirt and add pin tucked panels to it, which is how I did the pique. ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown.

In our house, all these things go to a professional laundry and DH and I are both happy with prices, quality, fit, and professional care.
