Hi everyone. I am trying to decide between buying the new Brother Innovis 4000D vs the Janome 10000 which the dealer says he will upgrade to the 10001 software for me. I am a complete embroidery novice and I would really appreciate some expert opinions. The Janome dealer knows his stuff whereas the Brother dealer is not very knowledgeable. Also, I have been very impressed with other Janome machines I have tried. Do I go for older technology Janome with dealer support or the brand new Innovis? Your opinoins would be highly valued.

PS I am from New Zealand and this is a great web site!

Mmmmm..tough question
I own a 10001 and here in Oz, all the updates are free.
They are being superseded by a new TOL model due in August which nobody knows details of as yet. The prices are reduced now.

Do not know too much about the 4000, the hoop size is bigger.

An alternative to the 10001 is the 300E..same hoops and sizes, same embroidery capabilities, no expensive software.
They sell here in OZ for around $1,500.

If you only want to embroider on the new machine. I would go with the 300E for budget reasons. If it was me, I think I would be tempted to wait and see what the new Janome TOL is like. As soon as it comes out there will probably be very good deals on remaining 100001's. Also a knowledgeable delaer is a very big plus!! Mine closed last dec.

Thank you for your comments. I have purchased a MC10001 at a pretty good deal since the new 11000 should be out soon. I wondered whether to wait for the new machine before buying but it was likely to be out of my price range and I am sure the MC10001 is as much as a novice will need. Anyway can always upgrade! Thanks.

Carolyn, I'm in about the same quandry as you have been - wondering what to do!!! I haven't really decided for sure about the 10001 and waiting for the newer model out soon. I keep changing my mind! Granted - the deal they have out is really a good one, but I have a feeling that the new one is probably going to have some features I'll really want. I've been waiting to buy a new machine until I actually retire (which was supposed to be about now), but I'm putting it off (retirement) for a while for a couple of reasons and I'm getting antsy!

I hope you really enjoy your machine! Give us some feedback about your impressions!

I have the 4000d and love it and it sews and embrodiers like a dream, but the Janome 10001 seems like a great machine for good price. On ebay there are always one or two for a great price, so tempting for a machineaholic.

I just bought the janome digitizer 10000 software, because it is compatible with other brands and it looks really good.

Don't think you could go wrong with either.

I have the same machine as the Innovis 4000D, it is the Babylock Ellegante and I am not happy, it was advertised to cut the jump stitches and now they have updated it to Not cut under a 5mm which is OK, BUT they advise you to not have the thread trimer on for most all designs. Go to www.babylock.com and click on the machine on right of page, then you will see a notice in Black that says "New: Tips and Tricks, click on that and the presidents letter trys to explain what the machine does now, HA HA , go into each update and read very carefully, I am not happy with the threading of the machine, I had the Babylock Ellageo and it was great, this one is not, the Innovis 4000D and Ellegante is the same machine just different designs. I understand it is made in the same plant. Look and read all about before buying.
