I got a commission to make a white quilt.

The person wanted a pattern I had made before. They had the dollars so I just let them know white on white would not show the pattern much - they were fine with that.

Its a beautiful quilt. Most of the blocks dropped out as i knew they would - but, there is that whole layer of dramatic piecing under there if someone wants to find it.

The pattern is the same as the quilt below -

I got lots of practice cutting diamonds and doing set in seams.

Very nice Portland. I hope this helps with the other issue you were having.

I love both those quilts. I can see why someone would want the white on white.
And I'm glad to see you're getting some business, word of mouth works wonders.
You do beautiful work.

Nice - white on white is one of those combinations that are dramatic when seen in person but tend to be lost in a photo.

Reminds me of candle wicking or repro historical needlework.

The white on white should make the quilting POP!

Can totally see this in a minimalist home draped across a linen sofa.

Great work!

I like the look of white on white. I looked at the piecing photos on your blog; the details are lost on the PR photos. I'd love to see the finished quilt on your blog. The colored version is a knock out. I really admire your work.

Thank you guys for the comments.

I am doing really well with that $ thing. Last week I did three shows and the people who I see face to face were as kind to me as people who I know from the online world. I think it is going to work out. Im very close.

The quilting was so much fun to do for this quilt. I decided while I was doing it that Im going to make myself one like it - only it is going to be a whole cloth quilt with thread painting and designs all over it.

This week is school break. I have so much to do. I put the binding on this quilt today. I have a show in a little bit - and then its off to the races. I have a "fiesta" quilted table cloth to make. I love having more work than I feel like I can keep up with.

Wow, all those Y seams! I never have managed to master them.

Portland, how do you get such nice, random piece placement? Whenever I do scrap, crazy, or random blocks, I'm never happy with the result. Yours always look so natural. Do you have a system??
