I've been browsing for good sources of lace (so far I've mostly been ordering off of Etsy,) and I came across http://www.queenoflace.com/ . It looks like they've got some nice laces at really great prices, but the whole site seems slightly off. The site states that the fabrics are "listed with the amount of yardage available" but I can't actually find that anywhere. And on the "a little about me" page, she says that she started selling on Ebay in 1987. Quite a feat given that that was 8 years before eBay existed. Or maybe it's just a typo?
She's got an FAQ that's in all caps, and doesn't appear to have any answers to the questions.
Her return policy is "all sales final, no refunds or returns, the same as any other fabric store" which is certainly news to me. And would be news to most of the fabric stores I buy from. And I don't see any swatch options.

I can't find any reviews besides eBay, and I don't really count eBay feedback as store reviews.
So I'm trying to figure out how legit this site is. It's apparently in the process of transitioning from eBay to the independent site (and has been for several years?). If the fabrics I was interested in were listed in their eBay store I'd buy it there and chance it, since eBay has pretty good buyer protection, but they're not. The prices look too good to be true against the regular prices that they list, but I try not to pay too much attention to "original" prices since they're almost always pulled out of thin air.

So... anybody here have any experience with this site? I don't really know what to think.

I'm curious as to what others reply, since I wanted to source some lace lately. Usually I'd say anytime a website gives you bad vibes for any reason, steer clear. And when it gives you more than one bad vibe, then it's a pretty clear sign.

Shes also listed here:
http://m.bonanza.com/users/3389981/profile

Only one comment is listed- about an order that smelled like smoking. And this site says she was on Ebay for 15 yrs so perhaps she meant 1997, not 1987.

Perhaps she saves money because of her no returns policy. Everything is revenue.
As far as yardage listing, I think she means everything is constistantly sold in yard units, not to be confused with units of feet or inches.

I get the feeling she is a business women- out to make money not build rapport with customers.

A personal note here, because I've not dealt with her. If I saw a site as unconstructed as hers, I wouldn't purchase. Why? Two reasons. It's possible she is still in the process of setting up, or she (like SandMcD implied), is not in the business of customers--just selling. I don't mean to talk negatively here, but her site has numerous errors, which aren't necessarily non-native English errors, as many here on PR care enough to correct their English if English is not their first language. If a PR member from another country is concerned about how they are presented, just in posting, why can't someone who owns a business be concerned in the same way?

The No Return policy is something I stay away from, no matter what. It's also No Return on eBay. A 14 day return policy wouldn't turn away customers; and we can get returns on cut fabric with several online fabric stores, so her statement isn't entirely true (unless you are shopping at Joann's).

So for me, I wouldn't buy from her; not matter her ratings on eBay.

*sigh* I guess what you guys are saying is what I already knew.
There are just so many red flags.

A no return policy certainly isn't standard, but I'm not sure that in itself would have turned me away without the claim that it is. Especially if I were buying on eBay (and maybe her site, since she does take Paypal) I'm pretty sure her policy would be irrelevant if the item turned out not to be as described. The fact that the more attractive-seeming (to me) fabrics aren't listed on eBay probably increases the likelihood that they're misrepresented in some way.

Those prices for what appears to be nice lace are really tempting, but you guys are right, there are just too many red flags.

So if this one is out... Where else do you guys suggest for lace? I'm mostly after stuff for corset embellishments, laces that can be cut out and the motifs arranged for various effects.

I bought last year from Ebay. The items were veryquickly shipped and nicely packaged. The fabric was as represented but you know how that goes... if I had seen it in real life I probably would not have purchased it. Good seller but my conclusion is it is very difficult to buy lace on-line.

Cheap fabrics, like cheap shoes, are a false economy.

Not familiar with QOL, but I have ordered Alencon lace from Sposabellalace.com and Laceco.com, and been pleased with the quality and price. I've ordered silk tulle from Bridalgal55 on eBay, and been very pleased. She often has nice lace, and I would've been happy to order lace from her, but she was out of what I wanted when I needed it.

The only bad thing I have to say about Sposabella Lace is that I was shorted 4" on my order of $30/yd Alencon lace, and they did not respond to my emails asking for a refund of the difference or a replacement. This may not sound like much, but it would've made a nice bouquet wrap for my dd's wedding. Otherwise, their prices just can't be beat. They are a brick and mortar store in NYC.
