I give up - I don't know if it's a technical error or operator error (or if it's doing exactly what it's supposed to) but I can't get this to work.

I just posted a review. During the process you need to add a finished photo pic using a URL. Then just before completing the review, you need to select a .jpg photo from your computer. Two different pics.

I cropped my finished photo and selected it as my review gallery photo. But the system shows the same photo as I used for my finished photo. I cannot change it. The only way to change it, is to delete both the pics, save the review, and try again. But it will always show in the review gallery the pic you linked to as a finished project photo.

If you must select two photos during the review process, why does it seem that you must select the 'same' picture ? Are they linked ? Is it even possible to use a different review gallery and project photo ?

Thanks, it's way too late in the evening for this to make sense to me.

Claire, you are on the right track and already understand that there needs to be two photos - one from your online photo album that is the URL link to your finished garment photo and another that is a jpeg from your computer that is the review gallery thumbnail photo. You have also worked out that it is best to crop the thumbnail jpeg to a square format so you don't chop off your head or get weird crotch shots!

The two photos are not linked and do not have to be the same. I quite often use different photos because what looks good as a thumbnail is not necessarily the best shot of the finished garment. Here is a review of mine where I use a completely different photo for the gallery and for the finished project shot.

Review

When you open the review you still see the review gallery thumbnail, but when you click on the thumbnail it takes you to the online URL photo.

It sounds like you have done everything correctly. I would suggest your refresh your page (generally F5 on a windows computer, not sure about a Mac) and see if that fixes it. Sometimes your computer holds onto an old image in its short term memory and keeps going back to that photo even if you have changed it. Refreshing forces it to update the photo. HTH's

Another thing you may have noticed is that when you are in the gallery and hover your mouse over a thumbnail, sometimes it says 'click to magnify/shrink' and sometimes 'click to read review'.

If your project photo URL is to a specific photo then you will get 'click to magnify/shrink' and if your URL is to either a web album or a blog then you will get 'click to read review'.

Personally I prefer a link direct to the relevant project photo. I don't like being directed to someone's blog just to look at the photo. This is because some blogs take ages to open up, or I may be checking PR using my smart phone and don't want to use up my limited data allowance just to look at one one photo. I DO love reading people's blogs and am in awe of anyone who takes the time to share their sewing journey, but I prefer a link to the blog from within the review so I can choose when to go there.

Oh thanks Jenny, it turns out - following your explanation - that it's doing exactly what it's supposed to. My review gallery pic is a little square showing just the tee. When I click on it, it magnifies to show the picture that I selected with the URL. Yours does the same.

When I look at the review, the little picture is the nicely cropped review gallery pic - I hadn't actually cropped the pic to that little square, I just got lucky that it's showing a nicely centered tee Now when I click on that one, again I see the URL picture just as you do in your review.

My URL pic and the cropped version are the same pic. It was just too similar for me to see what was really happening with the links.

Thanks

Good to hear you have it all sorted. The photos are definitely the most challenging part of doing a review!
