Brother Laura Ashley vs Dreamweaver XE What problems have owners had with both of them?

Particularly, what problems have owners had with either of them? What do owners dislike about them?

Brother makes some great higher-end models with fabulous feature for the money compared to some other brands. BabyLock has equivalent models since they contract Brother to make them.

I love it! Really, it is such a nice machine. I have only used the embroidery module a few times and had no problems but my main use is with fashion sewing. "Laura" chugs through just about everything I throw at her. The machine comes with a multitude of feet, including a walking foot. The only issue I had was the lack of measurements on the bed of the machine but I remedied that with some painter's tape. Date: 2/22/13 6:09 PM I don't think you can go wrong with either machine. I would check the lighting feature on the Laura Ashley if that is important to you. And the DreamWeaver series have the new Laser feature. I have the new DreamWeaver VQ3000 sewing and quilting machine. I've only had it about 3 weeks, so I've not written a review. But so far I have not found anything I dislike about it, and I assume the DreamWeaver XE is very similar with the exception of doing embroidery. The machine sews quietly and smoothly, the lighting is fantastic. The auto needle threader is great too. I have been using the laser as a 1/4 inch guide and it's wonderful for referencing a diagonal line across half square triangles, and piecing binding where you would normally mark a line with a pencil. Just turn on the laser and set it where you want, and no more marking or using seam guides for quarter inch piecing. Do test both machines. You have the Ellisimo and it is awesome" And the devil is on the other shoulder, saying " but consider the laser line, and the MuVit foot -- you could really use those". I traded back to my dealer the Pfaff Creative Performance I purchased back in May 2012. Pfaffie and I just never bonded, and I sew everyday.... plus $500 to trade for the new Brother DreamWeaver VQ3000. The listed price at my local dealers $4500 for the Pfaff Creative Performance. Hope this helps answer your question. Update: It has been almost 2 months since I bought the DreamWeaver VQ3000 home. We bonded immediately, and I can't find a thing I do not like about using this sewing machine. I am asking because I also own an Ellisimo but have been strongly considering either the Dreamweaver or the Crescendo. As much as I like both of those machines (and I have test driven the Dreamweaver), I keep coming back to the fact that I already 'own' these machines (with the exception of the laser light and MuVit foot) in my Ellisimo. Now, granted, while my Ellisimo is embroidering I can't use all of its sewing features so having the Dreamweaver or the Crescendo would be nice. I was just wondering if you had considered this when you made your purchase . . . With the prices I have seen on the Dream Weaver series....the sales on the Quattro have been almost as good of a deal. I almost would have considered the Dreamweaver embroidery only model-- but the minute i found out it won't do an 8" by 8" embroidery, it just seemed like a waste. Why would they make an embroidery machine with an 11" bed....and it doesn't do 8" by 8" like their top of the line?? It is so quiet. The lighting is so good. The laser line is so handy for so many applications. I haven't used the MuVit foot yet, but I saw a demo where it sewed Minky -- perfectly.
