Like a lot of you I have many, many issues of Burda. Mine date from late 2003 with a few gaps here and there.

My old issues are falling apart, and I"m looking for an index of the line drawings that I can print and keep handy rather than leafing through the actual magazines.

I use the Russian burda site but I think that it would be much easier to just have the double-page line drawings all together, so one can quickly flick through them, rather than slowly clicking through issue after issue online.

I actually started the project of scanning the line drawings last night buy my f*%&^$ printer wouldn't work because it is "out of yellow ink." I don't know what yellow ink has to do with scanning but there you go.

So, long story short, does anyone know of - or have - a line drawing index? It seems logical that Burda would supply a pdf of such a thing, but logic doesn't seem to be their bag sometimes....

Any leads appreciated!

I have a lot of the index pages scanned, back to 2008 or so. But because some other pattern companies got their lawyers after people posting line drawings online, it's in a private gallery. If you are able to PM me, I'm happy to send you the link as it should save you some scanning time.

There is a really useful Russian site that you might find helpful that has an archive of all the line drawings.

The site, in google translate

Use the years on the right to navigate. If you click on any of the issue names, for example January 2013 you get this page. Click on the link for Parade of technical drawings and you get, as the name suggests, thumbnails of all the technical drawings. Clicking on any individual one will show the item, the drawing and in some years, information about the pattern like sizing.

This is a pretty good archive from about 2005 onwards. For the whole of Burda before 2005 (by which I mean, from 1950s onward) you can use another Russian site:

For 1950 to 1988 use this link

For 1988-2011 use this link.

Just click on an issue cover to see the entire magazines (not pattern sheets or instructions, but in the 1980s onwards the technical drawing pages). Click on a page within the issue to see a bigger version.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for your offer! I wasn't able to PM you since I'm not currently a full member (vow of fiscal prudence for 2013 = no PR and no Burda till next fall among lots of other stuff). I sent you an email to enquiries @ your website name. com. Is that still good?

Thanks for that Westmoon - my goal is a printed out file folder that I can quickly flip through, but these older links are really helpful!

****hmmm... looking through these old links they have the line drawings up, but I can't figure out how to save as a pdf or similar file. I wonder if I can just screen shot them and save and print that way? I'll experiment.*****

I wonder why on earth Burda are so against readers sharing this information. Piracy isn't an issue since it's not like you can sew a pattern based on a line drawing. Anything that gets Burda-ites excited about all things Burda seems like a positive for them.

I emailed you my link, no problem. :)

And it wasn't Burda who had the problem, but KnipMode a few ears ago (same questions still stand though). My image gallery contains scans of ALL my pattern magazines, so that's why I keep it private.

One way that works with many more recent computers (both PCs and Macs) to transfer a .jpg file (picture file like the Russian site with every page scanned in) into a pdf, is to use Print. Instead of saving the page or file, choose Print... from the options in your browser, and look for an option like Print To File (PCs) or, on a Mac, a drop down that says PDF.
