My husband and I recently bought a house with a stainless steal apron sink. It was put in during a recent remodel before we bought it and is pretty, but scratches easily when we are leaning up against it doing dishes, both on the ledge and the apron! Any suggestions in creating a pattern/materials to use to make this?? I am afraid that it will just wick water up and then drip on the floor..... the sink is similar to this:

How about using non slip cabinet shelf liner likethis? You can cut it to shape and it shouldn't hold or drip water.

My kitchen has a butterfly sink and the area from the edge of the counter to the sink puddles with water, so I place a folded hand towel on the counter.

You might try the same as the folds hold the water.

You could wear an apron to keep from scratching the drop.

Never buy a house with a butterfly sink. They are back breakers. I guess the designer thought the home owner would use the dishwasher and not the sink.....wrong!

What's a butterfly sink? I know the apron sinks. They are called farmhouse sinks around here. DD has a porcelain one and no scratching issues with that. I could see where the stainless could be problematic. It may just be that you have to let it get a patina. I know that's not much help.

Not the answer you're looking for, but I'm with solosmocker: let the sink acquire a patina of scratches. If it were me, I'd even help things along with a good scrub with baking powder, one of those green scrubbing pads or steel wool. Initially, it'll look AWFUL, but as normal wear and tear continues, it'll take on its own beauty.

And let's face it, the interior of the sink is going to get quite scratched through regular use. If the unit were mine, I'd want the apron to match the interior.

I think your idea to just wear an apron is brilliant!
