This darling dress was in the new Land's End catalogue that came this weekend:

At first I thought it was a really basic, two-piece (front/back) knit, but it turns out to be cotton sateen (per the website, or lawn--??--per the print catalogue), with princess seams and a waist.I liked my version better! LOL

Has anyone seen a pattern for a super-simple knit dress with a similar shirred/gather neckline, without all the "fussy" seams?

Thanks!!

Try one of the many tops and just morph an A-line skirt into it.
I did this with the free "Fringe Top Scarf" pattern (great basic T pattern) on Fabric.com. It has the cap sleeves, nice tapered fit and you can use the neckline as a scarf or cowl, V, round it, gather the center.

I carry a tape measure with me for RTW knock-offs.
A knit RTW A-line was gathered only partially with elastic under the bust (which eliminates fitting an annoying separate under-bust seam) and also gives a little cover over a belly.

Just center a 6" piece of elastic under the bust and gather lightly.

You could try New Look 6803, which would probably translate to a knit without too much trouble, or Onion patterns have a whole bunch of basic knit dresses that would be similar to what you are looking for.

The Lands End dress looks a lot like Vogue 8633. It's out of print but still for sale on the Vogue website. There are a number for sale on Ebay too.

My measurements = 47-35-43. Height = 5ft11in.
RTW size =18 on top, 14/16 on bottom.
Sewing size = 20 and I alter from there.

Style Arc Olivia dress with a little tweaking might work.

Just came across another idea - what about the dress from Simplicity 2474. If you were to make it in a knit, I am guessing you could almost skip the CF/CB seams and cut on the fold?

I made this one, Simplicity 3506 in a knit then realized it was designed for a woven. Is one of my favorite dresses. Simplicity 3506
