why people use different machines for different things. On a whim I tried free motioning with the Bernina 1630. OMG it free motions like a dream. I can free motion, who knew? I even went back to the Janome to try it, and get much better results with the Bernina plus it feels better. Well Bernie is definitely getting out and getting his spa treatment this weekend. where I'm at with the trees, see below, even did some free motioning on them I felt so confident. Not sure about the results though I may take it out. This is before I did any quilting. My phone take lousy pictures

Not sure what happen to the pic oh well.

I grew up darning (FM) on a Singer 301 in the 50's. I thought I knew how easy FM was and mending holes was fun to me. Then I bought a Bernina 430 in 2005 and realized why everyone was thrilled with it- like dancing. Just no comparison. I added the BSR in 2008. But I struggled with that model in other ways, just not user friendly so I replaced it with a BL Ellisimo in 2010. We bonded from day 1 and FM is a dream, just beautiful every time and BL has come out with a stitch regulator for it.
Last weekend I went to an purse workshop with my manual, portable BL9. I didn't know we would be embellishing the fabric first. I tried using the FM plate for that model. It sits on top of the throat plate but it was too high with the the layered fabric. Tried different feet like applique and teflon but there was just not enough clearance to FM. It was painful. So I ended up doing normal stitches in a circular pattern. Lesson learned- I may need to buy a different portable sm but that means more weight to tote around! What a dilemma.

Exactly Portland I was so overjoyed with myself last night. Eventually would like to get a better table set up for it.

Were you the one who was thinking of selling this machine or not?

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.

I had thought about it but hubby nixed the idea cos he is the one who found it for me. I don't think I would have actually sold it.
