Machine servicing

Date: 2/27/13 4:07 AM I just had my 23 year old machine serviced for the first time, and it feels like a new machine! There were a lot of years I barely used it, so I'm not as slack as I sound, but it had got to the point after a couple of months recently when I've been using it a lot where it was almost intolerable to use. The guy said a full service should se me through 4 or 5 years, rather than the 18 months the sewing machine companies recommend. It's so smooth now, like a dream. I was remiss in that area with my 1977 Pfaff. Took it in in 1992, so not as long, but boy the tech gave me quite a talking to about that.I don't neglect my Pfaff now I can tell you. I am so glad you got your machine in, as these older ones are better IMHO than today's new modern machines in a variety of ways - not always, but sometimes. WAIT - you got a ukulele in 2012?! WOW...I did that too and practiced like a fiend for about 6 months and decided I couldn't play very well so now I have fun...did you also take up free motion quilting by any chance?! The reason it got so intolerable is because the lubrication on the moving parts, inside the machine, had dried up. Had you pressed on without getting it serviced, things would have only gotten worse. Your Toyota looks like a great machine.
