I want to make a fabric flower to embellish my daughter's clothing, but I was wondering which material will withstand all the washing?
I've added croched flower (store bought) in the past but I guess I didn't stitch it all the way to the edge so after one wash the flower shriveled close.
So I'm a little scared to try. (but it looks so cute!)

How about felt?
I've seen alot of RTW clothing with flower embellishment.
What are they made of?

Make them removable so you can use on any garment and in any soft fabrics. Glue on pinable backs or hair clippies (bags available in craft stores) for clothing or headbands. Or use a base of felt for the flower and sew a little tab of bias on the back for a clip to go thru.
Many free videos online. I like the rolled ones and fluttery one--you start with a large circle on a base, then fold 4 circles in quarters on top of that with the points touching in the center. Build up as many layers as you like with different size circles, offsetting each layer over the previous one. Glue or sew around the center only--very fluffy in thin fabrics.

Subject: Whats the best material to embellish? Date: 2/28/13 11:52 AM

I thought about making it removable but since it's for a toddler I didn't want to use a pin. :(

Great idea about the hair clippy!
