Hi All,
New to this site and am in the market to purchase a baby lock embroidery/sewing machine. I can't find information on when it of the model were introduced to the market. For instances when was the Unity machine released to the public? How long has the Ellisimo Gold been on the market? Looking to see when the next releases of these machines might be.
My interest is sewing/embroidery as my Pfaff 7570 is becoming outdated at least the embroidery s/w is. I love that machine and have had it for 15 years. So looking for any information on how long these other two machines have been out and any guess if they will be upgrading them soon.
Thanks for any information on this.

The Unity just came out last Fall...a very new model, quite different from anything previously offered by BabyLock but with familiar features. The Ellisimo Gold has been around for about 5 years? First, it was just called Ellisimo. There is now also a special Collector's Edition with Nancy Zeiman's signature on it.

The Pfaff is such a super machine. Many people keep them and buy an embroidery-only machine. BabyLock now has the Spirit for stand-alone embroidery. You could sew on your Pfaff while it does it's work.

Thanks so much Karen for the quick response!! had thought about just an embroidery machine, but with the age of my Pfaff would be good to have a second all in one machine too.
Now to watch for price reductions sales etc.
Thanks again for the information

Have you looked through the Embroidery Machine reviews? It may help you decide. Left sidebar.

Features are going to change and not everyone can afford to trade up each time a new model comes out.

I personally don't care for the laser light, "snowman" and some of the other gizmos.

Combos are okay, I have one that is TOL, but seldom use the sewing feature although it is primo. I have another SW that is my go to machine and the combo's sewing is my back-up.

I love BL, but you need to decide for yourself.

As you love your Pfaff 7570 have you tried out the (world's most incredible pfabulous wonderful machine ever) Pfaff Creative Performance yet?

Not that I want to enable you, but as you already have a 7570...

I just got my EG late last year...

But just to make sure you're aware: the Ellisimo/Ellisimo Gold machines went through several significant upgrades by what I've been told. So an original EG probably isn't the same as my EG.

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.

My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

I was told the EG came out in late 2009 or early 2010. Before that it was just Ellisimo. I got mine in 2010 and it came with upgrade I.
The firmware updates are free and dont changevthe value of the machine.
However there are 3 optional Upgrades ranging from $500 to $1200+ each and is determined by the BL Dealer. The current EG models sell with options to bundle all 3 upgrades so that affects their value and listing price.

The current Ellisimo Gold comes loaded with upgrades I and II (tablet digitizer). The first Ellisimo had these as options. Upgrade III (large border frame upgrade) is still an option.

Baby Lock has not had a new TOL in several years..maybe this year?

That said, the Ellisimo Gold will be hard to beat, it is a wonderful machine. Love the edge stitching feature where it will sew the topstitching on an edge without you having to hold on and it is perfectly straight. It is great for things where you sew a tube, like casing...

I could go on too, I also love the scanning feature where you can scan the fabric and place embroidery exactly where you want it; for example placing small embroidery designs between buttonholes on a shirt.

Have you looked at the Enterprise or Endurance? They are the 2 Babylock embroidery only machines.

Thought it might be worth mentioning that Babylock has a current promotion that gives you a free Koala Embroidery Center Plus IV cabinet when you purchase the Enterprise or Endurance. The cabinet retails for about $1200, so it's not a bad deal.
