This is a double post (I put the other in pattern sales)

Anyway, if you can get to Medicine Lodge Kansas, there is a sewing shop that has been closed up since the 1980's. It's been open as a thrift store for almost a year, so all the fabric is gone. There is a good supply of trim and thread and zippers left. But most of all, there are all the patterns from when the store closed. She's selling them for half off the cover price, which was a buck or two back then. She's anxious to get rid of them all, so if you took them I'm certain she'd give you a good deal. I didn't really bargain much, because it was for a non-profit endeavor.

Anyway, all the brands are there, as well as Kwik Sew. I only looked at Kwik sew, and there's a ton of lingerie and swim suits and all that was Kwik Sew back when they first started.

The pattern cabinets will be for sale once the patterns are gone. Hundreds and hundreds of patterns.

Here's the Craig's List ad: Craig's List Ad

That is very interesting. If I lived nearby I would definitely take a look

I just finished sorting through my booty....

I ended up with tons of the prettiest slip and undie patterns. Some of the slip patterns have some great details. I even have a long underwear pattern, and two girdle patterns!

It's been really fun to go through them. They did a lot of sweatshirt variations, and some of them are color blocked. Dolman sleeves were big, as well as very simple silhouettes with broad shoulders. Some of the patterns have a 1920's feel if the shoulders aren't broad.

But the best of the patterns? I got 3 sizes of Kwik Sew fitting pattern that goes with the book "Professional Pattern Alterations Made Easy". This is great for me, since I'm making 100 Kwik Sew patterns. Now I just need to find the book.

All in all, the Kwik Sew patterns were much more detailed back then than now, with some really great design touches. Some of the blouses have necklines that secure at the side of the neck, for instance. The earliest pattern I have found so far is pattern 500, and it's a blazer that looks as complicated as anything tailored would be today.

Some of the patterns are for "quilted fabric", which I've never seen, but must have been more common back then. There also must not have been any polarfleece around, either.

Anyway, great fun!
