I have the basic 5D embroidery software. I was told that we can import a design into this program and have it program into the design to automatically cut the jump stitches. I was also told it can convert designs to other formats. I cannot find out how to do either on the help section-- can someone tell me how to do this?

I hope someone answers this, because I see the icon to cut jump stitches in the 5D organizer, and clicked it for my design, but still had to cut the jump stitches when I stitched out my last embroideries??

Did you save the design once the jump stitch function was added to your machine? I don't have your model but you have to tell the machine to cut jump stitches.

I did the editing on my computer, not on my machine. It SAID it was saving it.

I do not have to add the cut jump stitch function to my machine, it is part of it already. I can choose to turn it on or off, and I always leave it on.

Luce- when you open a design saving it should be one of your options under the "file" tab just like a regular computer program.

I get a prompt that looks like standard computer 'save as', and I have options to save it as ANY kind of embroidery file. I just tested one out, I asked it to save it to a Brother PES file, and it then asked me about hoop size, so I randomly picked one, and sure enough it is now a PES file.

Okay, I tried to save it as a JEF file but it would not do it. Luckily I have another program, Digitizer and it has a convert command under the file menu--it was very intuitive. I reopened the newly converted design in 5D to tell it to cut the jump stitches (I don't know if the Digitizer one can do this globally). I'll check the file command again. I hope it works. I plan to do the stitch out today and see how it goes. This project is almost too complicated. My Pfaff is in the shop and I am using a Janome 11000SE (its my back up).

Sorry, what I wanted to ask is if you saved the design to your machine after adding the cut stitch command in 5D. If your cut jump stitches is on it should work.

Oh! Now I get what you are asking, and no I didn't save it until AFTER I stitched it out!

So I need to save it to my machine first, to get the cut jump stitches to work?

Your 5D will convert formats and also add jump stitches. Both are done in the "Organizer" module. If you click on the 'help' button and do a key word search it'll bring up the info on what you want to do. It'd be a good idea to take a lesson from your dealer.
