My Shoulder Seam Pulls To The Front Of My Garment!

I made a Vogue pattern and the shoulder seam is pulled to the front of my bodice by about 1/2 inch. I looked around for an adjustment and what I found seems backwards to me. It says to remove 1/2 inch from the front shoulder seam and add 1/2 inch to the back shoulder seam for a forward shoulder. I can't get this into my head, it seems like that would make it pull even more to the front of my garment. I thing it should be the other way around. Add 1/2 inch to the front shoulder seam and remove 1/2 inch from the back shoulder seam. Can anyone advise me on this?

Which image does your posture most resemble?

You could have hyper-erect posture like the right side, which would cause the shoulder seam to be in front of your shoulder. Or you could have a hunched posture that would cause the shoulder seam to seat itself to the back.

I don't really have a posture problem. I looked in the mirror and I would say I resemble the first posture. I am small through the top but have a c-cup bust. I always seem to have trouble fitting my top part of my body.

The pictures posted of body shapes are rather extreme.

Do you work on a computer during the day? If so, your shoulders could be a bit forward.

I don't know how old you are but as we age, our bodies tend to round towards the front.

If you arm/shoulder joints have a bit of roundness to them, then you might need a foward shoulder alteration.

I am interested in this as well. I think I have a bit of a rounded back. I thought I have forward shoulder as my shoulder seams fall toward the front. A forward shoulder adjustment makes it worse. A rounded back adjustment helps but not completely. I will be watching this thread too.

I am 60 and I do work most of the day on the computer. I am sure I probably do need the adjustment, just not exactly sure how to do it.

Is the back too long?

Is the front too short?

Have you had this problem with other patterns?

It seems that I just have trouble with Vogue Patterns.

You don't have forward shoulder. The shoulder point would be in front of the shoulder seam.
Just move it back. Make a large seam allowance and pin it so that it matches your shoulder.
