I live about 75 miles from Los Angeles (between LA and San Diego) and I'm thinking about taking a trip to Mood Fabrics in LA on a little spending spree with my birthday money. If you've been there, please let me know what you thought about it. Is the selection nice and big? Are the deals better at the store than on line? I'd love to hear about it...

How to Sew Easy

Look through this womans videos. She takes a trip to some fabric stores in LA. Some trips are very recent.

I was there a few years ago and it was good, not as jam packed as the NYC store but good. However they recently moved to new and I think larger quarters, so I'd say it's worth the trip. Thread magazine, either this issue or last has a whole section on fabric buying in LA.

Yes I have been there!

Mood Fabrics has recently moved into a larger building. And it is a feast for the eyes

Mood Fabrics now has a frequently buyers card, but other than that . . . I don't think they have any 'deals'. Mood sells the high end, designer fabrics of the best quality - at least that is what I saw in visiting their store. They also have some notions, sewing machines, their nifty Mood bag and a wall of zippers of every colour imaginable.

Is is worth the trip - you bet! But so is a trip to the fabric district in LA, too.

Your visit to Mood LA - you won't be disappointed by their selection of fabrics - just a bit poorer in your wallet.

I was impressed enough in the old LA store.

I went to a number of fabric stores when I was in LA and there are a number that are much pricier than Mood . I regularly shop in the NYC store and the prices are good for the quality.

Not sure when they moved but I love the LA Mood store. Also on Pico in W. LA is F & S which is excellent too ( home dec across street)

Also on Pico, hidden away, is Rimmel fabrics which sells designer close outs to public but mainly a wholesaler. Really nice, laid back owners.

I also love International Silks and Woolens (old school nice employees) on Beverly. I always see TV people shopping in there....last time it was the girl trying to win (I think she did end in the end ) Fashion Star.

Garment district needs to be a separate trip if you only have one day.
