I did the same thing when I started using flickr...
I just added drop box, evernote, google drive and docs and delicious to my bag of tricks and don't know much about them. I always thought drop box was for files and scanned docs. Delicious and evernote were for links...???
I found this in a book I have on Drop Box
"Be very careful about the folders and files you share with others via Dropbox links. The links can be forwarded or posted online, potentially granting access to strangers who should not be able to view this data. "
Since I use Dropbox as my backup for sensitive documents I would never link anything via Dropbox. Evernote and Delicious are for my surfing storage. I think using Flickr or photobucket would be safer for photos.
But I am a beginner in the computer world....I'll bet someone like Nicegirl or Sandi MacDonald would know more. ------ "The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem." Theodore Rubin

Date: 3/7/13 11:04 PM Thanks. I am leary of some of these "put everything in the cloud" deals.I chose to put one pic into dropbox and will not sync anything automatically. Just tried it out. I am not a techie person and will choose another method to load pics to pr. Thanks again |

Date: 3/8/13 4:15 PM Dropbox's URLs are all https, so you can't directly link to them like that. They are clickable, however. Some of my reviews have photos linked to Dropbox. I just put them in the Photos folder and grab the link. The Photos folder (and the Public folder) are separate from the rest of your Dropbox account. -- Edited on 3/8/13 4:17 PM -- ------ Debbie |

Date: 3/9/13 10:32 AM Dropbox was suggested to me for posting my free embroidery designs on my blog because my regular picture host doesn't support embroidery design file formats. I don't use it to post pics.

Wordpress lets you easily upload a picture and insert it into your blog post. Then you can either share the image or link to the post.
I have a "junk" blog that I use just for sharing photos.
It's also free.
The more I use my junk blog, the more I think I should just take the time to blog my sewing properly as the notes would be so great for my own reference. I think I'd be encouraged too with how much I'm actually accomplishing and just to see the progress I'm making.
I use another WordPress blog just for our family recipes. It's so handy as Wordpress automatically configures as a mobile site. If I'm out, I can bring it up on my phone whether I'm cooking at my son's house or in a grocery store.
Oh wow! Now there's a though for cataloging my patterns and stash. ------ Mary

Date: 3/9/13 10:40 AM If you'd like to set up your own sewing blog, just go to Wordpress.com and get started! I think it's easier than Facebook honestly. If you have any questions, ask here and you'll get some help! ------ Mary
