I spent a lot of time and $ making this jacket. The fabric is a raw silk is a white-ish background. I didn't realized that my bf had put a new dark red t-shirt in the wash. Yes, I wash my raw silk. Now my jacket has a pinkish hue. I re-washed it 3 times and tried a Retayne soak. Now I have a greyish, pinkish, pilly jacket. It looks horrible. Any ideas what I can do to save my jacket? :(

What about those "dye catcher" sheets?

It's a stand-out jacket and it looks terrific on you!

Really sorry this happened.

Oh, no. I don't have a solution but I totally feel your pain.

My husband I had to go to separate laundry baskets a few years ago.

Unfortunately the dye catcher sheets don't work after the fact, in my experience.

I'm really sorry. I don't have any advice, other than possibly dying the jacket a darker color to save it as a wearable article of clothing.

Dye it hot pink? Or red?

I once spent forever making three little red dresses and jackets for my daughters with white middy braid trim and this happened. I've never felt the same about red anything. I know it doesn't all run but I was sick over all that work down the drain. Dh has had a few episodes of pink socks and undershirts. I have used a rit product to get the pink out of those-it is where the rit dyes are in the stores. I am not a red fan at all.

I've had success (on occasion) with soaking the victim garment in OxyClean. Fill the washing machine, toss in the OxyClean (be generous) and let it mix itself in, then put the jacket in. Agitate briefly, then let it soak and soak and soak (overnight, for example.) Turn the machine on for a minute whenever you think of it, to keep everything mixed up. No guarantees, but can it hurt? Good luck.

I never wash red with anything else. Once a week, I run a red-only load of laundry. Now, middy braid on a red dress...problem. I would have been sick about that, too.

There are color run removers. For example:Color run remover.
However, I wonder if the Retayne might have set the color.
Another one:Synthrapol
