I ordered and paid for swatches from this company two weeks ago. No notification if they have been shipped or not. I sent them a followup email just the other day. No response. But... today I received an email suggesting that I order the fabrics that I ordered swatches for as "we sell out quickly". Is this fabric.com's way of operating? I have never ordered from them before. They seem to get good reviews on this site. I wanted to check the quality of the swatches before I thought of ordering at all.

This surprises me as I have purchased from them for years. I get 1 to 2 shipments from them weekly. (fabricholic). I have on occasion sent fabrics back when I decided I didn't like them. No charge of course. Try emailing them regarding your situation they generally response the same day. Good Luck!

I have been ordering from fabric.com for years now. Never had a real problem with them. Usually my order ships a day or two after I have ordered it.

I have had two little glitches with them in all the ordering I have done. Once there was a computer glitch when I ordered and the same order was placed twice. A quick phone call to them and the second order was canceled.

Only one time did it take a long time for my order to ship. I did wait a 4 or more days because I knew they were in the process of moving their warehouse at that time. When I did finally call and ask about the order status, I was told that they would check on it and get back to me. The next day I got an email telling me it had been shipped.

I suggest you call them. Their customer service is noramally great!

I have ordered plenty from them in the past. Normally their swatches arrive very quickly. I just placed an order for swatches 2 and a half weeks ago. It took 2 WEEKS for them to arrive and when they did one of the four swatches were missing. I then took them 2 days to answer my email telling them there was one missing.

I can tell you from my past experience with them that whatever their problem is this month (and they DO have a problem this month) it is not their usual way of operating.

I ordered fabric from them this month and it took about a week and a half to arrive. Don't know what the delay was but it finally showed up yesterday.

They were purchased by Amazon.com quite a while ago, but Stephen Friedman (a wonderful guy) was still an acting executive. However, He and his original staff have little to do the business these days, it seems as if some policies have changed, and Amazon calls most of the shots now.

I truly hope that is not the reason. More so because I love Amazon and think that they can do no wrong. I would hate to think they screwed up a business instead of making it better. I was just assuming that they had either a staffing issue this month or a bunch of people out sick. I would really hate to think it is Amazon's fault.

I had no idea they were owned by them though that is very interesting.

By the way, my missing swatch has still not arrived ;-( Their loss, I ordered swatches from Spoonflower on the same day, they arrived 3 days earlier.... sad for Fabric.com considering they had to custom print each swatch.... answered my emailed question about the swatch I was interested in within 2 hours and in general had a helpful disposition.

Received an email indicating the swatches were shipped - 3/13/2013 at 4:00 pm. AFTER my email to them. The email looks like they shipped them so I would receive them today. I'll check them out. Based on the reviews, I'm willing to give them a shot with an actual fabric order if I like any of the swatches. Thanks for the feedback.

I have never ordered swatches but I have been pleased with the overall quality of the fabric I have gotten from them. I did have some difficulty with a couple of orders last fall - I was sent the wrong item and then after a long delay, told they were out of the item I had actually ordered. I thought it might have been related to their change in location around that time. I decided to give them another try last month and my order was just fine, arrived on time and correct, although I purposely chose fabrics with high yardage amounts in stock! I do feel like things were a little better with their previous CEO than the new one.

Their service used to be very consistently good. In the last year I find that it is generally good, but sporadically poor. They either get it right or it is really bad. Wrong fabric, wrong amounts, long delays to get back to you with a solution.
