fast home sewing machine (1400+ s.p.m?)

What else is available in the market? Edited: I only sew garments, and I already have a Janome and a Brother serger. I just need something that'll do straight stitch really fast, but with really good pressure too. I see you're in southern California, do you have the chance to stop by Sewing Machines Plus to test out the machines? These machines are marketed towards quilters for FMQing. I sew mostly clothing and wanted a fast straight stitch (also lack of room for a true industrial). If I can get the vintage Greist buttonholer to work perfectly on this machine every time, it'll do everything I need! ------ I'm finally a blogger! sewming.blogspot.com

It only sews a straight stitch of course, but it's powerful and fast and sews through lots of layers without slowing down. Now I wish all my machines cut the tread by tapping the foot pedal. It also has a knee lift, and needle up/down. So it has everything I need, except for a zig zag, a couple of other stitches and the IDT foot...lol. I like the narrow feed dogs, and it sews smooth, quiet and fast!!!

I work in downtown LA so I could drop by I guess. I've never bought sewing machines from a store before. A great vendor should be there to educate and support you and they should never make you feel bad if you don't make a purchase. Since I've only dealt with SMP online I can't vouch for their treatment of in-store customers. You could call ahead and ask to speak to someone to explain your needs, that way you can get a feeling of how they treat a potential customer before you waste gas and time for a visit. ------ I'm finally a blogger! sewming.blogspot.com

If they did, they would not have many customers. They should be happy to demo and let you try.
