Date: 3/17/13 3:59 PM I have the Coverpro 1000CPX and am just getting acquainted with it. For those of you that have a Coverstitch machine, do you use the chain stitch? If so, how do you use it?

Date: 3/17/13 5:16 PM I have the 900 CP, 2 needle version and have used the chain stitch to test a new stretch knit pattern with unusual pattern pieces making it hard to measure. I quickly basted the whole thing, tried on, and it only took 2 minutes to pull apart. I also love the elastic attachement for this machine. ------

Date: 3/17/13 7:06 PM Basting things together, and sewing. Occasionally instead of serging things together, I'll just serge the edges and chainstitch it together. And, if the seam isn't perfect, it's easy to take out. Thick thread or the very thinnest crochet thread in the looper makes a decorative stitch.
I'm also a big fan of avoiding wrapping paper. I've been known to take two bandanas and chainstitch them together to make a bag. If the recipient would rather have two bandanas, all they have to do is pull on the end of the chain! |

 1 member likes this. Basting! Absolutely the best for basting when you have a lot of long seams that you want to look finished to try on, but quick and easy to remove. Plus you don't have to hold the ends of the threads, which somehow makes me feel like it is quicker to do. I also use it for darts in knits. It has a bit more give but doesn't have the look of a slight zig zag. ------
