Date: 3/17/13 9:53 PM I am considering the purchase of the Babylock Ellisimo upgrade 3 kit that has the large continuous border hoop. I was curious if anyone out there has it and recommends it. I make quite a few home decor items, including table runners, and think this might be a nice upgrade. I just would like to hear from some folks that have it.
I already have the regular continuous border hoop and have yet to use it, but want to know if the upgrade kit is worth it. I've read the manual and it seems pretty cool. But if I'm reading correctly, I need to re-calibrate my camera each time I put a new needle in if I'm using the border function and that seems too much trouble. Plus, I worry it will throw my whole camera off.
Any one out there have any thoughts on the upgrade?

Date: 3/18/13 0:14 AM I have a Quattro 2 with the same border upgrade 3. I love it! I have never heard about the re-calibration of the camera with a needle change. There are so many nice border designs that are built into the machine plus all the designs that you can tile together for borders, so I find it very useful. You have to be careful to get the snowmen aligned in the camera box which is tricky at first, but the machine prompts you to do each step. It's pretty fool-proof. I also use it for delicate fabrics/small designs that I don't want to hoop. It works well on the center front of things like Christening gowns.

Date: 3/18/13 6:43 AM So does this upgrade allow you to do border designs in the Sewing Module? Does it work like sewing a wider row of Character Stitches? And it requires using the snowmen?
I can't visualize how I would use the snowmen if am not hooping. Would I control how straight the fabric moves across the throat plate?

Date: 3/18/13 12:30 PM No, it doesn't allow you to do borders in sewing mode.....the upgrade is for embroidery only and comes with the 4 x 12 continuous border hoop, which is larger than the 4 x7 border hoop they sell separately. The hoop is a snap hoop which makes doing borders much easier.
I was just curious if this upgrade REALLY adds something of value to the machine or if doing borders is just as easy using the 4 x 7 hoop and the stitch marks.
