So I am thinking perhaps if we put it in one thread so we can see it it might be useful. When you put in harp space in search it comes up with over 25 pages of things.
Okay I will start but I will need to get Bogie 2212 out to measure him.. .........
My sm...
Singer 221 ...................4 3/4 x 4 1/4
Kenmore 27 (Commander)................7 x 5
Kenmore 16321............5 1/2 x 5
Janome 2212 ..............
Hello Kitty Kate green....4 x 4 1/2
Kenmore 24 stitch ...... 5 1/4" x 5" (height not quite 5" but very close)
Thanks so much. I hope this is a useful idea.....
Hmm Martha FW has more harp than Hello Kitty Kate....

Date: 3/18/13 10:59 AM Good idea!
Viking Platinum 7.25"
Kenmore 19910 (Janome 115110) 6.5"
Kenmore Mini Ultra 5.25"
Janome 6300 9" Height 5"
Pfaff 1222E 8.5" Height 5"
Pfaff 1199 8.5"
I am too lazy to get out my other two machines. I estimate the Elna 1200 at 6.5-7 and the Janome 8050 at about the same. -- Edited on 3/22/13 3:01 PM -- ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 3/18/13 2:08 PM Janome 6600 - 9 "
Juki 600 - 8 "
Kenmore 158(1968) - 7 "
Good idea! When I was researching the Juki I could not find the measurement on the harp space anyplace and was happy to find it was pretty close to my 6600. -- Edited on 3/19/13 11:04 AM -- |

Date: 3/18/13 2:30 PM This is a good idea. However, in order to have an accurate comparison, you'll need both length and height of the area. (If the length were 15" but only 1" of height, it wouldn't do you much good!) ------ Let's just say all modern sms are well represented in my studio. |

Date: 3/18/13 2:46 PM Quote: HanPanda (What is harp space......?) The space between the needle and the motor casing to the right. As someone else noted, the vertical measurement is also important here. I imagine it's called harp space because it's like the frame of a harp. I'd be curious to know if anyone knows the actual reason it's called that. |

Date: 3/18/13 2:58 PM But we only really measure the length. But you sure can tell when it's a lower top-of-the-machine. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 3/18/13 3:01 PM yep, you sure can, also the same with vintage ones. My pfaff was gifted to me by a dear friend. I have repaired my shoes on this sucker, and repaired firefighter gear on it. I would not have attempted it on the computerized ones. |
