Date: 3/18/13 4:18 PM Hi all- I'm in love with this easy RTW top, which looks super-easy to make but I don't have time to draft a pattern. Looks as if there are seams at the V in front and back. Has anyone seen a pattern similar to this? It has a Marcy Tilton feel but maybe a little more drape/less boxy. Thanks!

Do you have back issues of Burda magazine? 06-2010-123 is pretty similar; just change the front and back scoops to V-s and leave off the gathering at the back yoke/shoulder seam. If you want the sleeves as long as the inspiration you might need to make them into a true dolman rather than a cut-on cap, but that will just be a matter of extending the lines from the shoulder and the underarm. Check out the reviews of this pattern before doing that, as the sleeves are surprisingly long as drafted.
I don't read German, but it *appears* to be available for download.

Date: 3/18/13 6:38 PM thanks. The tunic has a center front seam and diagonal seams from the v, so it's quite different - I'd essentially be drafting a new pattern and that's what I want to avoid. I guess I'll have to, though. Thanks - there are plenty of tunic patterns, I just was looking for something with these seamlines and style. |

Date: 3/18/13 6:50 PM Ah, I didn't notice the CF seam. I was concentrating on the extended back yoke/shoulder seam (I don't think it is diagonal when the garment is laid out flat--I think it goes straight across the back shoulder as in the Burda piece); ------

1 member likes this. It looks just like two rectangles for the body joined by two triangles for the sleeve tops and V-neck. And the front/back held in place with shoulder pads. The V-seam appearance is because of the drapey fabric. ------

If I remember correctly the sizing is huge on that one, so make it small if you use it. |

Yep, just the one I was thinking of, too!
The seamlines are different, but the Vogue does have some interesting ones:
Adding a CF seam is as easy as not cutting it on the fold, and adding S/As. If you start with the basic shaped tunic that you want, it's easy to start adding/manipulating seams. Quicker than starting from scratch, at least!
