I used Insulite (similar to a batting) with a 100% cotton cover on mine.

Depends on how "huge" your rectangle is. Insulbrite comes in 45" widths and you can sew it together to make it larger. I use it on my pressing board (18" x 48")

I bought a bunch several years ago, but I'm pretty sure both Hancock's and JoAnn's carry it in the back with the utility fabrics.

Nancy's Notions carries it as well. I have an old wooden ironing board, and I recovered mine, as I couldn't just go out and purchase a cover for it.

Good luck!
