I have a pattern that I ordered in XXS.
The front of the pattern envelope state sizes XXS-3X.

But none of the pattern pieces have the XXS markings. It starts with XS & goes up to 3X.

Hip for XXS is 38.5 in
Hip for XS is 40.5 in.

I emailed the designer -she has a contact link but no response.
I also emailed the place I purchased the pattern from- still no response from them either.

How would you proceed?

Can you tell us what pattern it is? It'll help us give you more specific advice. There does seem to be an error with the pattern or the smaller sizes are in a different envelope like the Big 4. Contacting the pattern company is your best bet. Checking pattern reviews on the pattern may also give you ideas of what others ave done.

If you want to use the pattern as is, grading it down to the size you need is an option. Make sure you measure the finished garment first. Maybe the sizes are mislabeled or the garment has less design ease than you want, so you would want a bigger size.

Here is a picture of the pattern. And, it does not look like the alteration would be a problem. Maybe that is the reason for no responses????

Compare the differences in the waist measurements on the pattern envelope as well as the hip measurements and re-cut the pattern. If you use your actual waist and hip measurements the pattern may be too tight as the actual measurements do not allow for ease of fit (no ease = no give and the seams may pop).

If the differences are two inches and there are only the two side seams, that is four cut edges. Four, 1/2" adjustments will equal the two inches.

When in doubt, make a muslin.

Thanks for your reply- but i am still so frustrated.
There are 10 pieces to be sewn together that makes up the waist.

Do I alter all these seams?

I would call the company and see if they can solve the issue. Go to the source! Sue

Gail travels extensively to sewing expos and workshops, so she might be on the road. Her contact page gives an email, phone and mailing address, as well as a link to her Facebook page... I would avail myself of all of them and stress that you need help with an omission of size xxs in the skirt pattern.

I have been to workshops given by Gail, and although talented and friendly, she is a bit scatter-brained! (I say this affectionately. :-) Also, it's Easter week, so it's possible she's taking some time off, and as a sole proprietor, she likely answers all inquiries herself.

I'm not making excuses for anyone, it' just that I am quite sure you'll get a response, but it might take a while. hth

take a look at the pattern . All sizes are on the same pattern?
You can probley draw a smaller size. If you have one of those measuring drawing pencils with a ruler on end you could easily make it smaller. Just take some tracing paper and adjust the size that way. two inches isn't much. you could just about make it. Or you could just trace the extra small out and sew in just a little deeper. But do a muslin first.

Eat a lot of Easter candy, gain ten pounds, then make the XS! (Sarcasm, I couldn't help myself)
