I've selected a cotton/poly seersucker fabric for a dress to wear to my friend's wedding in May. I am learning towards a sleeveless, fit & flare style like Simplicity 2444. Will seersucker hold a pleat or just poof out awkwardly at the waist?

Seersucker isn't traditionally lined, but I feel the bodice may need a little something. Would cotton batiste be a good option? I do have some super soft mousseline on hand, but am worried that might be too light weight.

All of the answers depend on your particular seersucker! Perhaps you can try draping it (in the shop or at home, if you already have it) to determine pleat-ability. I don't think it will take a 'hard' crease. Seersucker is lined just like any other fabric - just choose a compatible fabric that works well for you. I lined a poly/cotton seersucker dress with cotton lawn, very comfortable. I did cut the lining a little larger than the dress and eased it in, because it is machine-washable - allows for some shrinkage of the cotton v.s. the poly/cotton.
